Bluestreak

G1 Cartoon

Bluestreak was a member of Optimus Prime’s crew on the Ark.  Bluestreak was a very simple character that was one of the few Autobots who didn’t have an episode dedicated to him.  Bluestreak looked exactly like Prowl with the exception of a different paint job.  Bluestreak and Prowl even had the same voice actor which at times confused the animators who would interchange Bluestreak and Prowl mid episode.  In vehicle mode, Bluestreak was a Datsun sports car.

His first mission on Earth was to help the Autobots defend Sherman Dam from the Decepticons.  The Autobots then attempt to stop the Decepticons from mining the ruby crystals of Burma.  When the Decepticons escape from the mine, Ironhide tries to follow them.  Bluestreak flies after Ironhide to bring him back. Ironhide attacks Skywarp, and then Skywarp teleports behind the two Autobots.  Skywarp starts firing missiles at the two Autobots.  Ironhide is shot out of the sky and Bluestreak flies to his aid.

Bluestreak is part of the unsuccessful trap that Optimus Prime and Hound make for the Decepticons.  Hound makes a fake rocket base with a hologram and the Autobots try to ambush the Decepticons.  Megatron saw through this and only sent junk drones.  While the Autobots were trying to ambush the Decepticons, they were at a different site getting the energy they needed.  Now that the Decepticons have enough energy to return to Cybertron, Optimus Prime and the Autobots attack the Decepticon base to prevent them from leaving Earth.  The Autobots arrive at the same time that the Decepticons are boarding their ship.  The Autobots have the upper hand in the battle, but the Decepticons retreat to their space cruiser.

Starscream takes command of the Decepticons and attacks a hydroelectric dam.  When the Decepticons try to retreat, Bluestreak and Prowl chase Soundwave.  Bluestreak slams into Soundwave in vehicle mode, sending Soundwave flying into the air.  Starscream catches Soundwave and they escape together.  Bluestreak transforms and fires on Starscream and Thundercracker, but they still attempt to get away.  Optimus Prime sends Bluestreak and Prowl to follow the Decepticons.  Bluestreak and Prowl catch up with the Decepticons as they are trying to repair themselves.  Bluestreak and Prowl fire on the Decepticons before the Decepticons can fire on them.  Soundwave sends Ravage to attack the Autobots.  Ravage pounces on Bluestreak, knocking him to the ground.  Prowl shoots Ravage, saving Bluestreak. Then Bluestreak hits Starscream with his blaster, injuring the Decepticon.   The Decepticons retreat when Prowl (who is controlled by Chip Chase at the moment) uses a fighter jet’s missiles on the Decepticons.  Later, Bluestreak is part of an Autobot team whose mission was to stop the Decepticons from gaining the power of Anti Matter. When the Autobots attack, Megatron uses the Anti Matter Energon Cubes as weapons, causing a massive explosion.

Optimus Prime is gravely injured in battle.  Bluestreak and several other Autobots attack the Decepticon Space Bridge.  Several Autobots and Chip go to Wheeljack’s workshop on Cybertron to get a part to repair Optimus.  After fighting the Decepticons, Bluestreak and the Autobots use the Space Bridge to go to Cybertron.  They are attacked by Shockwave when they get to Cybertron.   Once they find the part, they plan to go back to Earth.  The Autobots are attacked by several Decepticons who use Acid Rain as a weapon.  They are about to die, but Trailbreaker uses his force field to protect them from the Acid Rain.  They are then able to return to Earth with the new part for Optimus.

When the Dinobots are created, Bluestreak is impressed with their size.  After the Dinobots are activated, their inferior intellect makes them attack the Autobots.  Bluestreak tries to defend himself from Grimlock.  Ultimately, Grimlock uses his tail to dispatch Bluestreak.  The Autobots prevail and the Dinobots are deactivated.  Bluestreak then goes on a mission with several other Autobots to fight the Decepticons at a dam.  When the Autobots arrive, the Decepticons come out of hiding and attack.  Bluestreak is knocked down by Gears, who was shot by Soundwave.  Bluestreak quickly gets up and attacks Rumble.  Megatron hooks his fusion cannon up to the turbines, supercharging his weapon.  He attacks the Autobots, sending them plummeting into the water.  The Decepticons bind the Autobots with energy chains, and prepare to destroy them.  Before the Autobots can be executed, Wheeljack and the Dinobots save them.

Bluestreak and the Autobots take Skyfire to Peru to stop the Decepticons from turning an energy crystal into a weapon.

After two new Dinobots are created, Ratchet and Wheeljack have Prowl, Bluestreak, Sideswipe, and Ironhide test the new Dinobots.  Bluestreak fires on Snarl, Swoop flies down and carries Bluestreak away.  Prowl fires at Swoop and he drops Bluestreak.

Laserbeak abducts Spike, Bluestreak shoots Laserbeak down and saves Spike.  Bluestreak, Hound, and Windcharger help rescue Bumblebee after he fell in a hole.
Bluestreak and the Autobots travel on surfboards on the ocean.  There is a massive tidal wave approaching them.  The Autobots use the momentum of the tidal wave to travel to Megatron’s base on Earth.  The Autobots track Megatron to a tropical island where he is using slaves to put Energon Cubes in his ship.  Once the mind controlled slaves are out of harms way, the Autobots attack.   Thundercracker and Skywarp transform into jet mode and attack the Autobots.  The Autobots are pinned down and can’t leave their cover.  For once, it looks like the Decepticons are going to win and Earth will be destroyed.  Just as the Autobots start to believe that their fight is hopeless, Skyfire arrives with reinforcements.

Megatron challenges Optimus to a one on one battle.  When it is time for the battle, Bluestreak is an observer.

Bluestreak battles the Decepticons after Spike’s mind is transferred into a robot body and he temporarily joins the Decepticons.

Bluestreak helps Optimus Prime fight the Decepticons for control of the Immobilizer.  Bluestreak is the first victim of the device in the battle.  He is restored when Carly reverses the effect of the Immobilizer.

After Cliffjumper discovers where the Decepticons may be hiding a piece of stolen energy creating equipment, Bluestreak joins the Autobots on a mission to recover it.  Cliffjumper leads the Autobots to a valley where he found the Decepticons and the Autobots transform into robot mode.  Laserbeak discovers the Autobots and they leap into the valley to battle the Decepticons.  During the battle, Shrapnel hits the Electro Cells with his blaster accidentally.  They start to explode.  The Autobots retreat so the Electro Cells won’t be in further jeopardy of destroying the Earth.

Bluestreak goes to Japan with the Autobots to provide protection for Dr. Fujiama’s creation, the robot named Nightbird.  The Decepticons attack the auditorium to steal the robot.   When Megatron fires his cannon at Optimus, Bluestreak dives in the way to protect his leader.  Bluestreak is damaged, but Optimus Prime continues to fight.  The battle ends when Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp rip the ceiling off of the building and steal Nightbird.  The Autobots discover Nightbird has broken into the Ark.  Optimus Prime, Jazz, Cliffjumper, and Bluestreak try to corner her in a hallway, but she attacks them with buzz saws.  Then she spins around and creates a strobe effect which blinds the Autobots.  She is able to escape with a data chip which contains information about all of the Earth’s energy supplies.  Bluestreak helps Optimus Prime and the Autobots chase Nightbird in the desert.  After Optimus Prime uses his stun blaster, Bluestreak goes to collect Nightbird.  She was feigning that she was unconscious and attacks Bluestreak.  Nightbird continues to fight Optimus Prime and Bluestreak tries to shoot her.  Optimus Prime orders the Autobots not to damage her so they can return her to Dr. Fujiama.  When Nightbird is about to kill Optimus with her energy sword, Bluestreak disobeys Optimus’ orders and shoots the sword out of Nightbird’s hands. After Nightbird defeats the Autobots in battle, Hound uses his advanced sensors to lead the Autobots to her.    Eventually, the Autobots create an electromesh cage and capture Nightbird.  The Decepticons arrive to help Nightbird and acquire the data chip.  Starscream uses his null rays to deactivate Nightbird and flies away.  The Decepticons chase him and the Autobots recover the data chip.

The Autobots receive a warning from Teletran 1 that a rocket is being attacked by the Decepticons.  The rocket is carrying a satellite which can be used as an energy source.  The Autobots plan to go to defend the rocket but they start to become evil.  Teletran 1 detects “evil” in the base, and that evil is the Autobots.  Megatron and Starscream snuck into the Autobot base and altered their recharging station to turn the Autobots evil.  Bluestreak stays inside the Autobot headquarters when the rest leave under Megatron’s orders.  When Bumblebee enters the Ark, Bluestreak keeps on trying to convince him to recharge his power (with a really creepy voice and red eyes).    Bluestreak grabs Bumblebee and to takes him to the recharging station.  He forces Bumblebee inside as Jazz enters the Ark with Spike and Sparkplug.  Bluestreak takes his weapon out and shoots at Jazz.  Jazz thinks at first that Bluestreak’s weapon went off accidentally.  Bluestreak proves that it was intentional when he continues to fire his blaster at Jazz.  Jazz is stuck behind a crate and sees a heavy tool.  He throws it at Bluestreak to get him to stop trying to shoot him.  Bluestreak is knocked out.   Sparkplug creates a device to restore the Autobots.  When Bluestreak wakes up, he starts shooting his weapon at Jazz again.  Jazz distracts him with a light show and Sparkplug attaches the device.  The device is successful and Bluestreak is brought back to his benevolent self.  Bluestreak joins Sparkplug and Jazz so they can restore Hound, Ratchet, and then Skyfire.  While Hound is trying to shoot one of the devices at Skyfire, Bluestreak fires his shoulder lasers into the air to get Skyfire’s attention.  Hound restores Skyfire and the Autobots use him to travel to restore the rest of the Autobots.

Bluestreak, and several other Autobots meet the Optimus Prime and a smaller group of Autobots in South America.    The Autobots learned that a Decepticon ship was discovered and assume that Megatron is going to try to use it to make himself more powerful.  They join the battle just as Megatron enhanced himself with a device called the Star Drive.  After Megatron damages Optimus Prime, Bluestreak follows Cliffjumper into battle.  Megatron disables Bluestreak with his new energy blasts.

Bluestreak and the Autobots watch a news report from the Ark.  The report says that the Empire State Building in New York City sunk into the ground and disappeared.  The Autobots travel to Manhattan to protect it from Decepticons.  When the Autobots reach Central Park, they are ambushed by Soundwave, Rumble, and Frenzy.  The battle is short and the Decepticons are victorious.  Optimus Prime is captured and Megatron orders the Autobots to leave New York City or they will never see Optimus again.   Megatron takes control of New York City causing the Autobots and the human inhabitants of the city to leave in a mass exodus.  While half of the Autobots are looking for Optimus Prime, Wheeljack, Ironhide, Sunstreaker, and Bluestreak return to Manhattan.  Megatron has been rebuilding the city to be a fortress in his twisted image.  Bluestreak finds the last missing part of Optimus Prime, his arm, on top of the Empire State Building.  The Decepticons target the Bluestreak and the other Autobots with Optimus’ gun. Hound and Bluestreak speed away from danger, but fall into a large hole in the street.  They land in the subway and soon realize that a train operated by Frenzy is barreling down the tracks at them.  Hound and Bluestreak take out their weapons and start firing at the train.  They successfully destroy the train and send Frenzy flying into the air.  The attack drained a lot of Bluestreak’s energy.  Bluestreak doesn’t show up for the rest of the episode.

Bluestreak is part of a covert Autobot Commando team led by Optimus Prime.  Wheeljack and Chip created Dominator Disks which Optimus Prime wants to use to gain control of Devestator.  The Autobots travel to the Decepticon base at night.  Bluestreak leaps to the bottom of a waterfall to join several other Autobots.  Bluestreak stays hidden in a trench.  When Scrapper drives near the trench, Bluestreak attaches a Dominator Disk on him.  After all of the Constructicons have Dominator Disks attached to them, the Autobots are lifted out of the canyon by an elevator attached to Optimus Prime’s trailer.  Later that night, Optimus Prime, Bluestreak, and several other Autobots race towards the Decepticon base in vehicle mode.  Megatron rallies all of the Decepticons and together, they fire all of their weapons at the three Autobots.  The seekers take to the air and launch a barrage of missiles at Bluestreak.  Bluestreak transforms and fires his own missiles at them.

Bluestreak participates in the Autobot race for charity.  The Decepticons show up with their new device and use it to trap the Autobots in vehicle mode.  The race ends with no clear winner because the Autobots kicked up so much dust, no one could tell who won.  The Autobots learn they are trapped in vehicle mode when the Decepticons attack.   The Decepticons subdue the Autobots by shooting out their tires and overheating their engines.  The Autobots are captured and brought to Megatron’s ghost town. Before Megatron can accomplish complete Autobot destruction, Wheeljack, Ratchet, Brawn, Huffer, Bumblebee and their human friends arrive with a grenade that restores the Autobots’ ability to transform.
After an Autobot rescue team was defeated by the Decepticons, Mirage returns to the Ark and organizes the Autobots to defend their headquarters.  The Decepticons covered themselves with a substance called Electrum which makes them unable to be damaged.  Bluestreak prepares to defend the Ark from the Electrum enhanced Decepticons.  The Decepticons defeat the Autobots, but they let all of the Autobots survive.  After Powerglide finds the source of the Electrum, Bluestreak goes to the lagoon with the Autobots to coat himself with Electrum.  The Electrum coated Autobots fight the Electrum coated Decepticons, but neither side is able to damage the other.  During the battle, the Decepticons’ Electrum wears off and they are forced to retreat.  Unfortunately, the beautiful valley that hid the Electrum poll was destroyed in the battle.

Prowl leads a team of Autobots consisting of Tracks, Skids, and Bluestreak to stop Blitzwing from attacking a nearby city.  The team of Autobots heads to a football stadium that Blitzwing has turned into his base of operations.  Scrapper notices them approaching and wants the Constructicons to open fire on the Autobot caravan.  Blitzwing orders Scrapper and the Constructicons to allow the Autobots through so then can get lost in the highway maze that the Constructicons built for Blitzwing.  The Autobots have a treacherous time navigating through the maze.  They are unable to avoid crashing into the walls.  Bluestreak gets lost quickly but Blitzwing easily finds him in tank mode.  Blitzwing rolls over Bluestreak and it looks like he was destroyed.  His remains are turned into a throne for Blitzwing.  Off camera, Bluestreak is restored and brought back to life.

Bluestreak goes to Paris with several other Autobots to take part in the Europa 2000 race.  The race is a competition for the best drivers in the world that starts in Paris and ends in Istanbul.  The winner gets a large sum of money as a prize, as well as a large donation in his or her name to a charity.  The Autobots participate in the race and if they win, they will donate all of their winnings to charity.  One of the drivers, Augie,  objects that the Autobots are participating in the race because their participation would be unfair.  The Judges allow the Autobots to participate since the race is for charity.  The Autobots transform into their car modes and prepare to start the race.  Augie drives very dangerously, but he also drives with precision.  He is able to guide himself easily between all of the cars.  As the race continues, Augie gets more and more reckless. The racers find themselves on a narrow mountain road.  Augie speeds passed Bluestreak and almost causes an accident.  Bluestreak warns Bumblebee that Augie is getting close to him.  Augie rams his car into Bumblebee and Bumblebee crashes.  Bumblebee transforms to avoid rolling off the mountain road.  Bumblebee decides he wants to teach Augie a lesson.  Since Bluestreak is much faster than Bumblebee, Bluestreak offers to let Bumblebee ride on his roof to catch up to Augie.  Bluestreak and Bumblebee speed passed the other racers, while driving safely.   Bluestreak catches up to Augie and Bumblebee gets off of his roof.  Bumblebee rips Augie out of his car to teach him a lesson in sportsmanship.  Augie is determined to get the prize, but Bluestreak tells him that the way he drives, he won’t have any time to spend it.  Augie wiggles himself free from Bumblebee’s grasp and speeds off in his car.  The race continues throughout Southern Europe with no clear winner.  The Stunticons attack Smokescreen and.  Bluestreak finds him.  He wants to help repair his friend, but the Stunticons attack.  Dead End emerges from behind a bush in vehicle mode and tries to drive into Bluestreak.  The other Stunticons follow.  When Motormaster tries to ram himself into Bluestreak, the Autobot is able to leap to safety.  The four car Stunticons circle around Bluestreak to keep him in one spot.  With Bluestreak trapped, Motormaster tries to run over Bluestreak again.  Bluestreak jumps out of the way again, and lands on top of Wildrider.  The other Stunticons hold back as Wildrider swerves violently to shake Bluestreak off.  Wildrider drives into a forest to try to shake Bluestreak off.  Wildrider starts to drive faster and faster.  He crashes into a rock wall and Bluestreak flies off.  Wildrider drives off, but Bluestreak is able to scale the rock wall.  He comes across Dr. Terranova, an archeologist who was kidnapped by Megatron.  Terranova notices the Autobot logo on Bluestreak and knows he has been saved.  Terranova tells Bluestreak that he was forced to help the Decepticons locate an artifact called The Pearl of Bahoudin.  Bluestreak is able to contact Tracks and Bumblebee to tell them about the Decepticons’ plot.  Tracks and Bumblebee are the last Autobots still functional in the race.  Bluestreak drives on a mountain road to meet up with Tracks and Bumblebee.  He comes across Auggie Cahnay, the same racer who objected to the Autobots being in the race.  The Stunticons stole his experimental race car and left him stranded.  Being a noble Autobot, Bluestreak offers to help.  Auggie demands that he drives Bluestreak.  Bluestreak thinks that all Auggie cares about is winning the race, but Auggie tells him he wants to get his car back.  Even though his motivations are self serving, Auggie allies himself with the Autobots.  Oddly, Bluestreak allows Auggie to drive him (this is one of the few times where an Autobot is directly driven by a human).  Bluestreak and Auggie catch up with Tracks and Bumblebee just as they are about to cross the finish line.  The race is declared a three way tie, but the announcer interjects that he thinks Bluestreak was just a little ahead.  After the race, the Autobots go to the Galata Valley to stop the Decepticons.  They arrive just as Megatron gets the Pearl.  Bumblebee, Tracks, and Bluestreak transform, and they really don’t even try to stay hidden.  Megatron quickly notices them and flaunts the Pearl of Bahoudin.  He then tells the Autobots that his plans wouldn’t have been able to come to fruition without Auggie’s car.  The experimental race car has an engine made of a rare metal.  Scrapper starts taking Auggie’s car apart and Auggie tries to stop him.  Tracks and Bluestreak protect Auggie by shooting Scrapper.  Megatron orders the Stunticons to attack the Autobots.  The Stunticons transform into vehicle mode to clash with the Autobots.  Breakdown tries to drive into Bluestreak, but the Autobot is able to leap over the Stunticon.   Bumblebee tries to end the conflict by going after Megatron’s weakest link, the Pearl.  Bumblebee transforms and leaps onto Megatron’s arm to steal the Pearl.   Megatron orders the Decepticons to recover the pearl.    The Stunticons circle the Autobots to corral them.  The other Decepticons open fire.  Bumblebee wants to use the pearl to fight the Decepticons, but Bluestreak thinks it is too dangerous.  Bumblebee has no other option so he breaks open the pearl and a stream of energy shoots out.  The energy creates a massive storm and lightning fills the valley.  The Stunticons are all hit by bolts of lightning.  Bumblebee tells Megatron to leave the valley with all of the Decepticons or he will open the pearl completely.  Megatron calls Bumblebee’s bluff and orders the Stunticons to form Menasor.  Menasor stomps through the valley to get to the Autobots.  Bluestreak tells the Autobots to get to cover as Menasor smashes his fist into the ground.  The Autobots scatter to avoid damage.  With a tornado approaching, Menasor pounds the ground creating a massive crack.  The pearl slips out of Bumblebee’s hand and Megatron rushes to reclaim it.  A tornado sucks it up before Megatron can reach it.  Assuming that the battle is lost, Megatron has the Decepticons withdraw, but leaves Menasor to fight the Autobots.  Tracks tricks Menasor to walk into the large hole that the Constructicons dug when they were looking for the pearl.  Bluestreak fires his blaster at Menasor’s foot and he falls into the hole.  Bumblebee, Tracks, and Bluestreak fire on the hole and bury Menasor.  Menasor quickly emerges from the hole and sends the three Autobots flying into the air.  Menasor corners Bluestreak, but Bluestreak climbs up the rock walls to evade Menasor.  Menasor still tries to punch Bluestreak, but instead of getting hit, Bluestreak leaps onto Menasor’s arm.  Menasor simply grabs Bluestreak and tosses him to the ground.  Auggie gets into his car and speeds off, Bumblebee thinks he is leaving the Autobots to perish.  Instead, Auggie drives up on a cliff and sends his car hurtling at Menasor.  Auggie jumps out and the car hits Menasor in the face and explodes.  Menasor is defeated.  Bumblebee risks himself to destroy the pearl and restore the weather.  After the battle, Tracks declares that Megatron must have arranged the race so he could get Auggie’s car.  Since Megatron created the race, there is no actual money for charity.

When the Autobot base is attacked by the energy creature Kremzeek, Bluestreak is shorted out.

Marvel G1 Comic

Unlike the G1 Cartoon, Bluestreak is barely used.  Early on in the comic book, it is iffy on if Bluestreak or Prowl is drawn, but the first time Bluestreak is really used is a year into the book when Prowl sends Bluestreak and Bumblebee to protect Buster Witwicky, who has The Creation Matrix, from the Decepticons.  Bluestreak witnesses Buster kiss his girlfriend Jessie, and Bluestreak is confused about what a kiss is.  He actually tries to quantify it using physics.  Bluestreak and Bumblebee see that Laserbeak is spying on them and Bluestreak fires on him off with his blaster, knocking him out of the sky.  This was just the first round, a remote controlled Jetfire then attacks the Autobots, Buster, and Jessie.  Jetfire damages Bumblebee’s leg, but then Bluestreak hits Jetfire with his shoulder rocket.  Jetfire quickly recovers and continues to attack the two Autobots.  They are saved by Buster who uses the power of the Creation Matrix to take apart Jetfire and then he puts him back together, controlling Jetfire.

Some time later, Bluestreak is part of a defense force tasked with protecting New York City from an enhanced Starscream.  Bluestreak is killed in the battle.
