CHUG Cliffjumper was a really good figure, but I was ready for an upgrade. Like most of Earthrise, I was waiting for an upgrade kit to come out before I got the figure.

Bot Mode-

I have to get it out of the way and mention what everyone already knows about the figure. Yes, he is really short/small and he has partsforming. I have to admit, those things really don't bother me that much. Yes, I would like Cliffjumper to be 10%-15% bigger, but considering he is only a little bigger than a scout/legends/basic figure but he comes with a lot of "stuff" I'm okay with that. I'd love to see the same formula with the other minibots. Well, Bumblebee and Brawn. I'm pretty satisfied with most of the other minibots. Like all Earthrise figures, Cliffjumper is a great figure. He isn't my favorite, but he is far from my least favorite. Very solid medium liking of the figure in comparison to Earthrise figures, and better than most Pre-Earthrise figures. CHUG Cliffjumper was a straight repaint of CHUG Bumblebee (which is a figure I really like) but he looked more like a red Bumblebee than a Cliffjumper. Earthrise Cliff just looks like Cliffjumper. His head sculpt is amazing and his head has very good movement (it can turn left and right). The majority of the figure is a deep red and his chest has a clear blue window. His upper arms and legs are black and his face is silver. He has very good articulation (arms can move up and down and in and out, more than 90 degrees bend on his elbows and knees, legs can do the splits and move up and down, and he even has toe articulation and some waist articulation. He has 5mm hands and 5mm ports on his arms and back and bottom of his feet for weaponizers. Like all Siege and Earthrise figures, there are pegs on his body which you can attach effects parts. His backpack can come off, but it looks weird without the backpack. He is a very fun figure for both display and play value.

Most of the Earthrise figures that I have, they have a more simplistic transformation in comparison to Siege. Cliffjumper's transformation is more complicated than the other Earthrise Deluxes that I have (Wheeljack is on his way to my house now, so within a week or two I'll review him). The instructions are REALLY bad and I couldn't really figure out how to transform it based on the instructions, so I used an Emgo316 video to help me transform him. Also, he has a secondary vehicle mode (in G1 a few of the Autobots were able to deploy skis from their wheels to go on water). For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to do half of that transformation so I didn't do it. For complexity, I rate Earthrise Cliffjumper's transformation a 7 out of 10. For fun, a 6.5 out of 10.

Vehicle Mode-

This Cliffjumper is NOT a Bumblebee repainted. He is a small sports car, it actually kind of reminds me of Windcharger a little bit. He absolutely has his own identity as Cliffjumper in vehicle mode. He keeps all of the same colors and tabs together well. His wheels are black with silver rims. There is a 5mm port on his roof which can accommodate a weapon (but it points up slightly). There is an autobot logo on the hood which adds enough detail where it isn't boring at all. The secondary vehicle mode has clip on skids, but the guns are somehow meant to peg on the side of the vehicle, but again, I can't figure out the instructions enough.

Here's another place where Earthrise Cliffjumper is amazing. His accessories. One of the most iconic moments of Cliffjumper in G1 is when he and Hound spy on the Decepticons in the 2nd episode and Cliffjumper tries to assassinate Megatron with a bazooka. Cliffjumper's weapons come packaged as the bazooka. The bazooka is able to be disassembled to form 2 blasters. The skids turn into a bipod. Very cool to give the fans the ability to recreate that iconic moment. I also gave Cliffjumper the knife from AOE Hound. In the IDW Cliffjumper Spotlight, CJ was a total bad ass, so I wanted him to have a small arsenal

3rd Party Add Ons-

Like most Siege and Earthrise figures, Matrix Workshop made a really cool add on kit (which will be reviewed by 5-21-20). It comes with another bazooka which you can tab the skids/bipod into as well as a rifle and a pistol. I prefer the bazooka that came with the figure, but the other two weapons are GREAT. Also, SKW made an adapter which prevents partsforming. Since the partsforming doesn't really bother me so much, I probably won't get the set.

Incredibly well engineered figure and great accessories.

Some people will find this as a con, that there is partsforming. (Doesn't bother me). Also, he really is just a bit too small. I understand that we got a lot of accessories for a legends figure but 10-15% bigger and maybe a more simple accessory would've been a little more enjoyable.

What Changes Would I Make?

So Cliff is a good figure, but I don't know if he is perfect. I appreciate the bazooka, but that was only in one episode and the other blasters aren't my favorite. I would've preferred to have seen the figure be about 10% bigger and just come with one unique blaster.

Cliffjumper is a great figure and you should get him. The upgrade kit isn't as needed as lets say Hoist's but none the less, it makes the figure better. Unless a KO company made an oversized KO of Earthrise Cliffjumper, I think I found my perfect Cliffjumper. I rate Cliffjumper an 8.25 out of 10

American Retools and Repaints-

Generations Select Hubcap (straight redeco, probably won't get him unless I find him for super cheap)

Walmart War For Cybertron Bumblebee (retool which is on preorder)
