Jazz

G1 Cartoon

Jazz was an Autobot who at times was one of Optimus Prime’s lieutenants.  Especially in the first few episodes, Jazz took a leadership role with the Autobots.  Jazz was one of the few Autobots who really embraced human culture.  Jazz especially enjoyed music and at times used it as a weapon.  He transformed into a sports car.

Jazz was one of the Autobots who Optimus Prime sent out to look for more energy on Cybertron. Sometimes, he even acted as Optimus Prime’s second in command.   When he returns to Optimus Prime in Iacon, he tells the Autobot leader that Cybertron is running low on energy.  This causes Optimus Prime to take the Ark into space to look for a new world.  When the Ark flies into a meteor shower, Jazz is thrown from piloting the ship.  After Optimus briefly takes over, Jazz returns to the helm in time for the Decepticons to board the Ark.  Jazz helps defend the Ark against the Decepticons, but the ship crashes into prehistoric Earth.  After being reactivated, Jazz helps Optimus Prime create a group of Autobots to defeat the Decepticons.  The Autobots track the Decepticons to an off shore oil platform.   After a brief battle, Megatron damages the oil rig and retreats with the Decepticons.

After Optimus Prime rescues Spike and Sparkplug, Jazz uses the harpoon attachment in his arm to reel Optimus Prime and the humans to dry land.  The Autobots return to the Ark with Spike with them.  Soon, Ravage sneaks onto the Ark to copy files.  Jazz and Prowl form net like cages and capture the Decepticon.  Soon after capturing Ravage, Jazz joins Optimus Prime and the Autobots when they have to defend Sherman Dam against the Decepticons.  After Optimus Prime and Megatron battle, Optimus is thrown into the river.  Jazz saves him with his grappling hook arm attachment.  The Autobots then attempt to stop the Decepticons from mining the ruby crystals of Burma.

Bumblebee and Sparkplug plant explosives which go off before they can get out of the mine.  The Autobots start digging to find their friends and Jazz is the one who finds Bumblebee and Sparkplug.  Jazz is part of the unsuccessful trap that Optimus Prime and Hound make for the Decepticons.  Megatron saw through this and only sent junk drones.  Optimus Prime asks for volunteers to attack the Decepticon Base.  After all of the Autobots volunteer, Jazz organizes the assault.  During the battle, The Autobots have the upper hand in the battle, but the Decepticons retreat to their space cruiser which later crashes.

After months of peace and quiet, the Autobots start to embrace their new home on Earth.  Jazz becomes very interested in human music.  One day, he and Spike go for a joyride together.  Their fun is cut short by a traffic jam.  Jazz feels there is something suspicious happening and returns to the Ark.  Later, Jazz is part of a rescue party to save Spike from the Decepticons.   Inside of a cave, the Decepticons trap the Autobots inside, and attack.  Jazz defends himself from Starscream with a stalactite.  The Decepticons retreat, but trap the Autobots inside of the cave.  Ratchet discovers that Bumblebee’s memory circuits were altered.  Once Ratchet repairs him, he reveals the true location of the Space Bridge.  Together, the Autobots free themselves by firing on the rocks which are keeping them trapped in the cave. They then go to the correct location of the Decepticon Space Bridge.  The Autobots arrive at the Space Bridge in time to prevent Spike from traveling to Cybertron.  Megatron is caught in the Space Bridge and everyone assumes he’s dead.

Later, Jazz is part of an Autobot team whose mission was to stop the Decepticons from gaining the power of Anti Matter.  When the Autobots attack, Megatron uses the Anti Matter Energon Cubes as weapons, causing a massive explosion.  The Decepticons escape and the damaged Autobots return to base for repairs.

When it snows in July, Jazz turns himself into a snowman to surprise Spike.  Then Spike teaches the rest of the Autobots about snowball fights and they pelt Jazz with snowballs.  When the Autobots investigate the climate change, they find that it is caused by the Decepticons (of course) stealing energy from the Earth’s core.  The Decepticons are working out of the arctic.  Jazz and the Autobots join Optimus Prime when they try to stop the Decepticons.  When they reach the Arctic, they find a new Decepticon named Skyfire on guard.  Skyfire attacks and the Autobots scatter.  Jazz and the Autobots travel through the ice caves to save Spike and Sparkplug, who were captured by Skyfire.  The Autobots are separated into two groups, Jazz’s group rescues Spike and Sparkplug, and later fight Ravage.  The Autobots reunite above ground and battle the Decepticons while Ratchet repairs Skyfire.

Jazz is one of the more nimble Autobots.  When the Dinobots are created, the first thing they do is attack the Autobots.  Jazz is able to dodge Slag’s attacks.

Jazz and the Autobots take Skyfire to Peru to stop the Decepticons from turning an energy crystal into a weapon.  They go to a mining village which Megatron is attacking to get raw materials to build a cannon for the crystal.  The Autobots and Decepticons battle until the Decepticons retreat with their metal.  While escaping, Megatron fires on a mountain, causing an avalanche to occupy the Autobots.  Optimus Prime orders the Autobots to fire all of their weapons at the falling rocks.  They save the village and all of its inhabitants.  The Autobots then make their way to the Inca Temple to battle the Decepticons.  As they approach, Megatron fires the cannon at the Autobots, but they are able to dodge his attacks.   During the battle, Megatron destroys a hill which covers the Autobots in rubble.  The Autobots dig themselves out and continue to try to stop the Decepticons.  Megatron continues to use the cannon on the Autobots, but he also orders his Decepticons to defend the temple.  The Decepticons are defeated when Skyfire turns the tide of the battle.

Jazz and the Autobots travel to India to fight Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp.  The Autobots use hydrofoils on their vehicle mode to travel on the water.  The battle is very brief because it was a diversion to get the Autobots out of their base so Laserbeak could kidnap Sparkplug.  Jazz is one of the Autobots who goes into the ocean to attack the Decepticon base and recover Sparkplug.  While underwater, Megatron attacks the Autobots.  Once Sparkplug is rescued, the Autobots return to their base.  The Decepticons soon attack the Autobot base when Sparkplug deactivates the Autobot defenses and sabotages the Autobots’ weapons.  Before Megatron can destroy the Autobots, Spike quickly repairs Teletran 1 and activates the Autobot defenses.  After Teletran 1 is repaired, the Autobots learn that the Decepticons are building a massive Space Bridge.  Jazz goes with Optimus Prime and the Autobots to investigate.

The Decepticons are successful in activating the Space Bridge.  It brings Cybertron to Earth and causes numerous natural disasters across the globe.  The Autobots are forced to retreat when Soundwave uses a sonic attack to clear the area.  Jazz uses a magnet beam in vehicle mode so Ironhide can tow him.

Jazz and the Autobots travel on surfboards on the ocean.  There is a massive tidal wave approaching them.  The Autobots use the momentum of the tidal wave to travel to Megatron’s base on Earth.  The Autobots arrive just in time to see Megatron escape on a starship filled with Energon Cubes.  The Autobots track Megatron to a tropical island.  Once the mind controlled slaves are out of harms way, the Autobots attack.  The Autobots destroy Megatron’s ship, and the explosion caused by the Energon Cubes inside of it knocks Cybertron out of Earth’s orbit.  Earth is saved and the Autobots think that Megatron is dead.

When the Autobots learn that Megatron is alive, the Autobots follow the Decepticons to Dr. Arkeville’s lab.  When the Decepticons learn they are being followed, Megatron sends Skywarp and Thundercracker to attack the Autobots.  The brief battle ends after Optimus Prime throws Megatron in a lake and the Decepticons retreat.  Jazz captures Laserbeak and “plays” him so they can learn what the Decepticons are planning.  The Autobots learn that Starscream and Dr. Arkeville have teamed up and are planning to destroy the Earth.  The Autobots travel to Dr. Arkeville’s secret lab.  Optimus Prime and Megatron work together to save the Earth and the Autobots return home.

Megatron challenges Optimus to a one on one battle.  When it is time for the battle, Jazz is an observer.

Jazz rides with the Autobots into the forest to help Wheeljack test his new invention, the Immobilizer.  Wheeljack’s invention is successful in preventing all motion in a waterfall and pond.  Jazz is skeptical and jumps into the water.  He crashes into the solidified water.  After a successful test, the Decepticons arrive and steal the device.  After the Autobots learn that the effects of the Immobilizer are temporary, they seek out the Decepticons before they figure out how to make it permanent.  During the battle, Jazz creates a distraction with lights and sound.  While Jazz is distracting the Decepticons, Carly reverses the effect of the Immobilizer.
When time portals are opening up, Jazz is sent with Prowl, Inferno, and Red Alert to keep the peace.  Old West bandits came out of a time portal and were fighting bikers.  After Prowl disarms the bandits, Jazz deafens them with his music.  Inferno and Red Alert get the bandits to go back through the time portal.

Jazz goes to Japan with the Autobots to guard an advanced robot created by a Japanese scientist.  The robot is revealed to be Nightbird, a female ninja robot.  Like clockwork, the Decepticons attack.  Jazz wants to fight off Rumble and Frenzy, but Optimus won’t allow him to.  He is afraid that the humans will get hurt.  The battle ends when the Decepticons steal Nightbird and fly away.  Jazz responds to an alarm sounding in the Autobot headquarters.  The Autobots discover Nightbird has broken into the Ark.  Optimus Prime, Jazz, Cliffjumper, and Bluestreak try to corner her in a hallway, but she attacks them with buzz saws.  Then she spins around and creates a strobe effect which blinds the Autobots.  She is able to escape with a data chip which contains information about all of the Earth’s energy supplies.  Jazz joins the Autobots when they search the desert for Nightbird.  The Autobots find her climbing a rock formation to escape.  The Autobots engage her in battle.  She takes out throwing stars and throws them at Optimus Prime and Jazz.  After Optimus Prime gets defeated in battle, Nightbird gets away and Jazz helps Optimus get up.  As Nightbird escapes, she steals Optimus Prime’s rifle.  Jazz is very curious why she would steal it.  The Autobots resume their search for Nightbird into a canyon.    She activates magnets in her feet to climb up a rock wall, but a loose rock makes her fall to the ground.  She falls to the ground and the Autobots fight her.  Jazz uses loud music to try to subdue her, but she causes his speakers to malfunction.  Eventually, the Autobots create an electromesh cage and capture Nightbird.  The Decepticons arrive to help Nightbird and acquire the data chip.  Ultimately, Starscream uses his null rays to deactivate Nightbird and flies away.  The Decepticons chase him and the Autobots recover the data chip.

While a gold mine is being attacked by Decepticons, Optimus Prime sounds the alarm to rally the Autobots.   The Autobots transform and head to the mine to fight the Decepticons.   They observe the mine and see that the Decepticons have placed the miners in an electrified cage.  As the Decepticons are about to kill the miners, the Autobots leap into action.  The battle comes to an abrupt end when the Decepticons abduct Gears and fly away.  The Autobots return to their base and the Earth is in jeopardy of being destroyed when the Decepticons are stealing solar energy.  The Autobots travel to Africa to stop the Decepticons, save the Earth, and save Gears.  When the Autobots get close to the Decepticon base, jungle plants prevent them from traveling to fight the Decepticons.  Optimus Prime orders Jazz and Sunstreaker to use their lasers to make a road for the Autobots.  The Autobots disable the Solar Needle and restore Gears to normal.

Jazz joins the Autobots when they investigate a mass of energy filled crystals in a valley. Before the Autobots can continue their study, Starscream leads the Decepticons to attack the Autobots.  The Decepticons quickly retreat and the Autobots return to the Ark.  The Autobots don’t know that their leader was replaced by a clone that is controlled by Megatron.  The clone tries to use Teletran 1, but doesn’t know how.  He accuses the computer of being broken, but Jazz points out that Optimus did maintenance on it that morning.  Jazz just thinks that Optimus Prime is shell shocked from the battle, not that he was replaced.  Teletran 1’s proximity alarm goes off and the Autobots prepare for an attack.  The Autobots see that the real Optimus Prime is trying to get into the base.  The clone tells the Autobots to let Optimus Prime in and then kill him.   The Autobots subject both Optimuses (or is it Optimi?) to a competition to try to figure out which is the real Optimus.    After the Autobots can’t decide which is the real Optimus, Ironhide takes command of the Autobots.  The Autobots travel to the desert to a crevice filled with energy crystals.  It is a trap and the Decepticons immediately attack.  Jazz battles the Decepticons and watches as Clone Optimus destroys Clone Starscream.  The Autobots figure out that the fake Optimus is a clone when he refuses to save Spike.  Together, the Autobots shoot Clone Optimus and it is destroyed.

Jazz and Bumblebee are traveling together back to the Ark.  They have Spike and Sparkplug as passengers.  Jazz is excited to check out the new sound system that Sparkplug installed inside of him.  Bumblebee heads inside of headquarters why Jazz activates his new speakers (which are about half the size of Jazz).  Jazz is deafening Spike and Sparkplug with his loud music.  Jazz starts an avalanche with his music and then returns to base.  When he enters the base, he sees Bluestreak attacking Bumblebee.  Jazz doesn’t understand what is going on and tries to talk to Bluestreak.  Bluestreak fires his blaster at Jazz, and at first, Jazz assumes that the gun went off by accident.  Bluestreak continues to fire his weapon at Jazz, who hides behind a large crate.  He throws a heavy tool at Bluestreak to disable him.  They learn that Megatron sabotaged the Autobots’ recharging station with a personality destabilizer.  All of the Autobots are now evil. Jazz stays with Sparkplug while he creates a device to restore the Autobots.  As Sparkplug finishes the device, Bluestreak awakens and starts to shoot his blaster (again), at Jazz.  Jazz distracts Bluestreak with a light show and sonic attack.  Once they know the device works, they work to restore all of the Autobots by mass producing the device.  Jazz and Sparkplug track down Hound in a city.  While Jazz grabs Hound’s attention, Sparkplug restores him.  Then, the two Autobots and Sparkplug restore Ratchet.  With each moment, the good Autobots gain numbers.  Jazz, Sparkplug, and the restored Autobots then target Skyfire.  They feel that his speed and strength could make it a lot easier to restore other Autobots. They travel inside of Skyfire to the Air Force Base that Optimus Prime is attacking.  The Autobots are able to restore Optimus Prime, Brawn, and Prowl.  After all of the Autobots are restored, they travel inside of Skyfire to stop the Decepticons from leaving Earth with an energy gathering satellite.  The Autobots want to stop the rocket, so Jazz goes outside of Skyfire and transforms.  He uses his powerful sound system to damage the rocket and it crashes to Earth.

Jazz is part of an Autobot strike force that Optimus Prime creates to defend the Nova Power Plant from the Insecticons.  If the Insecticons consume the energy at the power plant, they will be invincible.  The Autobots arrive to see that the Decepticons and Insecticons are already attacking the power plant. The power plant is being defended by helicopters with human pilots.   Soundwave sends Laserbeak and Buzzsaw to attack Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Inferno.  After Inferno shoots Laserbeak, Jazz and Inferno transform to rescue the helicopter pilots, who are crashing.  Jazz rips the canopy off of the helicopter which is engulfed in fire and pulls the pilots out.  Jazz follows Optimus into battle when the Autobots try to make a final push to defend the power plant from the Decepticons and Insecticons.  Jazz and Hound help recover Wheeljack who was under debris.  The Autobots retreat back to the Ark once the wounded are loaded into Optimus Prime’s trailer.  The Autobots roll back into action very quickly.  They learn that the energy which the Insecticons consumed will make them explode.  Also, the Decepticons and Insecticons are attacking a facility to steal a combat computer.  The Autobots race to save the Insecticons and stop the Decepticons.  When the Autobots reach Iron Mountain, the Decepticons enter the facility while the Insecticons fight the Autobots.   Optimus Prime and Megatron work together to prevent the Insecticons from exploding.  The Insecticons fly away with the Decepticons chasing them.

When the mayor of Central City declares an Autobot Day holiday, Jazz is part of the parade in vehicle mode.  The celebrations are cut short when a human who allied himself with the Decepticons, named Shawn Berger, accuses the Autobots of being evil.  The Autobots are given a trial and are found guilty.  They are exiled from the Earth forever.  After their ship takes off, Megatron uses Teletran 1 to alter the flight plan to send the Autobots into the sun.

After the Autobots were exiled from Earth, Cosmos guides the Autobot spacecraft away from Earth.  Jazz is inside of the space craft.  The ship is destroyed and the world thinks the Autobots are dead.  They survive when Trailbreaker surrounds the Autobots with a force field and links it to Cosmos.  Cosmos guides the Autobots back to Earth.

Jazz, Optimus Prime, Hound, and Mirage get a demonstration from a scientist using his drone fighter.  The scientist was inspired to make the drone fighter to protect the Earth from the Decepticons.  The drone explodes and Optimus Prime directs the Autobots to transform and follow him to the wreckage.   Optimus Prime takes Jazz and Blaster to the main laboratory and they find Megatron, Soundwave, and Starscream about to steal the plans for the drone.  Jazz transforms and starts playing really loud music to distract the Decepticons.  Later, Jazz follows Optimus Prime to a power plant that the Decepticons are trying to control.  As the Decepticons are making Energon Cubes, the Autobots arrive to fight.  All of the Autobots transform, but Jazz for some reason is stuck in vehicle mode.  Ironhide kicks Jazz, restoring his transformation ability.  Jazz transforms back into vehicle mode to use his sound and light show to disorient the Decepticons.  He can’t perform.  Blitzwing sees this and barrels down on Jazz in tank mode.  He fires his cannon and Jazz falls into a hole.  All of the Autobots and Decepticons are malfunctioning in some way so they stop fighting to find out what is going on. Inside of the Ark, Jazz is stuck with a car bottom half, and a robot top half. They find out that because they have been away from Cybertron for so long, they are deprived of an element called Cybertonium.   Spike and Carly go to Cybertron, recover the Dinobots, bring back Cybertonium, and the Autobots are saved.

Jazz always looks to experience more and more Earth culture, especially music.  Most of the Autobots don’t understand the minutia of Earth culture, Jazz dives right in.  While Blaster is at a rock concert with Spike and Carly, he transmits the music to the Autobot headquarters.  Most of the Autobots are bothered by the loud music, but Jazz starts dancing to it.  The Autobots receive a call for help from a scientist whose observatory is being attacked by Decepticons.  The Decepticons are trying to steal his invention called the Voltronic Galaxer.  Jazz goes with the rest of the Autobots to battle the Decepticons.  The Autobots arrive at the observatory too late, the Decepticons have already escaped with the device.  Jazz explains that they were held up by Blaster’s music.

Jazz is with Optimus Prime when the Autobots receive a distress call from Cosmos.  Optimus is about to travel on Omega Supreme to help rescue Cosmos, but Jazz replaces him on the mission.  Jazz mentions that he likes kicking Decepticon cans.  Perceptor goes on the rescue mission with Jazz for his scientific knowledge.  Omega Supreme exhausts more energy than he expected and winds up crashing on Titan.  He lands near a ravine, so Jazz and Perceptor pull him to safety.  Jazz and Perceptor search Titan for hours but can’t locate Cosmos.  While traversing the jungle, they are attacked by an alien named Talaria.  She doesn’t know that the Autobots are different than the Decepticons.  She shoots an arrow at Jazz from the trees, but the arrow bounces off of him.  Talaria screams that she will not worship false gods.  Jazz lifts his hands in the air to show Talaria that they mean no harm.   The Autobots ally themselves with Talaria to save Cosmos and vanquish the Decepticons from Titan.  Talaria leads the two Autobots to the main temple on Titan where they discover Cosmos.  Cosmos has been deactivated but the Titans worship him as a god.  Jazz is actually offended that someone would worship an Autobot like that.  He explains to Talaria that they are just machines, not gods.  Before Jazz and Perceptor can reactivate Cosmos, they are caught by Starscream and Thrust.  The Decepticons open fire on the two Autobots, and the Autobots return fire.  They drive the two Decepticons out of the temple momentarily.  Jazz and Starscream both transform into vehicle mode and rush towards each other.  Starscream is able to hit Jazz with his lasers and Jazz is forced to return to robot mode.  Jazz picks up a large rock and throws it at Starscream, causing him to crash.    Jazz grabs Starscream, and when he transforms back into robot mode, Jazz is restraining him.  Jazz throws Starscream out of the temple, but Astrotrain orders the Titan slaves to fight for him.  They shoot arrows with energy crystal arrowheads at Jazz.  The arrows explode on contact.  Jazz tries to plead to the Titans that he is trying to help them.  The Autobots are forced to retreat but leave Talaria with the Decepticons.  Jazz and Perceptor hide from the Decepticons in the jungles of Titan.  They eventually get to the energy crystal cave.  Perceptor and Jazz split up so Perceptor can use the crystals to refuel Omega Supreme.  Jazz works to liberate Cosmos, Talaria, and the enslaved Titans.  He climbs up into the temple from the mines below.  As he gets close, the rocks give way and he starts to fall.  Jazz grabs a ledge and pulls himself up.  Jazz emerges into the temple just as the high priest Jero is about to kill Talaria.  Jazz shoots the blade out of his hands.  Jazz runs towards Astrotrain and starts shooting him.  Astrotrain orders the Titans to destroy Jazz, but they are too afraid.  Jazz frees Talaria by ripping off the ropes that are binding her to the altar.  Starscream and Thrust open fire on Jazz.  He is saved by Omega Supreme and Perceptor.  Astrotrain reaches the energy crystal caves and creates a massive explosion in the mines.  The Titans are trapped and Jazz tries to help them.  They promise Jazz that if he saves them, they will worship him.  He tells the Titans that he is not a god and shouldn’t be worshiped,  but he will help save them.  With Omega Supreme’s help, the Autobots save the Titans, fix Cosmos, and return to Earth.

Jazz’s position in the Autobots seems very inconsistent.  Sometimes he is the funny and wacky warrior, but other times he acts as Optimus Prime’s second in command. Jazz leads Gears, Prowl, Sunstreaker, and Mirage on a recon mission.  They were notified of strange Decepticon activity.  Jazz leads the Autobot caravan and winds up splashing mud all over Gears.  Gears complains, but Jazz claims it is good for his complexion.  Sunstreaker realizes that something is wrong when the river they were driving to is missing.  The Autobots follow the dried up river and discover that the Constructions made a dam to divert the river for the Decepticons.  They transform and follow the dried up lake to a waterfall.  Devestator sneaks up from behind the Autobots and throws a rock at them.  They fall off a cliff but aren’t damaged.  Devestator leaps off of the cliff to engage the fallen Autobots.  He quickly uses his eye lasers to attack the damaged Autobots and they fly into a rock wall.  Mirage shoots a cable at Sunstreaker.  While Jazz distracts Devestator with a light and sound show, Mirage and Sunstreaker trip Devestator with the cable.  The Autobots are able to return to the Ark for repairs.  After Jazz is repaired, he goes on a mission that night with a small covert team.  The Autobots want to test out Wheeljack and Chip’s new invention which should be able to put Devestator under Autobot control.  Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, and Jazz deploy afterburners from their hands to fly to the bottom of the waterfall.  From the bottom of the waterfall, Jazz shoots a cable to the top.  Mirage slides down to join the other Autobots.  Jazz throws a Dominator Disk like a throwing star and attaches it to Scavenger.  After all of the Constructicons have Dominator Disks attached to them, the Autobots are lifted out of the canyon by an elevator attached to Optimus Prime’s trailer.  Later that night, Optimus Prime, Bluestreak, and Jazz race towards the Decepticon base in vehicle mode.  Megatron rallies all of the Decepticons and together, they fire all of their weapons at the three Autobots.  Jazz is injured and crashes during the battle but quickly recovers.  He and Sideswipe transform at the same time and start shooting their weapons at the Decepticons.  Once Devestator merges, he kicks Jazz, Huffer, and Bluestreak.  The Dominator Disks work and Devestator is under Autobot control.  At the Autobot headquarters, Hook performs microchip repairs on Jazz.

Sideswipe, Bumblebee, and Jazz travel to the New Jersey pine barrens to rescue Tracks and his new human friend Raoul.  They discover that the Decepticons are converting stolen cars into weapons.  Jazz scares off Rumble by firing his blaster at the Decepticon.

Jazz participates in the Autobot race for charity. Jazz tries to keep up with Sunstreaker and Mirage.  He starts blasting music loudly to entertain himself (the song used was reused from GI Joe and the episode Make Tracks, it is the Cold Slither song).  The race ends with no clear winner  (but it looked like early on it was either Jazz or MIrage) because the Autobots kicked up so much dust, no one could tell who won. The Decepticons show up with their new device and use it to trap the Autobots in vehicle mode.  The Autobots learn they are trapped in vehicle mode when the Decepticons attack.  Optimus Prime commands the Autobots to attack the Decepticons while in vehicle mode.  The Decepticons subdue the Autobots by shooting out their tires and overheating their engines.  The Autobots are captured and brought to Megatron’s ghost town.  Megatron plans on using a crushing device to destroy the Autobots.  Ironhide is the first that Megatron wants to crush.  Jazz tries to defend him, but Scrapper tosses him aside.  Before Megatron can accomplish complete Autobot destruction, Wheeljack, Ratchet, Brawn, Huffer, Bumblebee and their human friends arrive with a grenade that restores the Autobots’ ability to transform.

After Powerglide finds the source of the Electrum, Jazz goes to the lagoon with the Autobots to coat himself with Electrum.  The Electrum coated Autobots fight the Electrum coated Decepticons, but neither side is able to damage the other.  Jazz shoots Soundwave with his blaster, but the Electrum deflects the beam off of Soundwave onto Bumblebee.  During the battle, the Decepticons’ Electrum wears off and they are forced to retreat.  Unfortunately, the beautiful valley that hid the Electrum poll was destroyed in the battle.

Jazz continues to surround himself in human pop culture  He joins the Autobots when they watch a soap opera called “As the Kitchen Sinks” on Teletran-1.  The show is interrupted by a special bulletin reported by Hector Ramirez (who originally was a character in GI Joe).  The Autobots are disappointed that their favorite show was preempted.  A top secret Soviet jet was stolen, and the Soviet Union is blaming the United States.  The tensions are rising and ambassadors are meeting at the UN to try to diffuse the powder keg before all out war.  Jazz thinks that the Decepticons are involved, but Optimus Prime has a feeling that something different stole the jet.  Optimus Prime turns the broadcast off and mentions that he is worried that Tracks and Bumblebee haven’t checked in.  Jazz says that Tracks is probably at a body shop or getting a car wash.  Optimus Prime has the Autobots transform and look for Tracks and Bumblebee.  Blaster is able to ride inside of Jazz while in stereo mode.  Before Jazz finishes his search, Blaster goes on his own to search the city on foot.  Jazz checks every car wash in the city for Tracks and Bumblebee, but he can’t find them.  Jazz notices a new car wash and drives into it.  A taxi cab pulls up behind Jazz and blocks him from leaving.  Jazz is forced inside of the car wash.  This isn’t a typical car wash, this car wash of doom was a trap made by Lord Chumley to captures Jazz so he can use him as bait to capture Optimus Prime.

Jazz follows Optimus Prime to an area near Seattle to fight the Decepticons and Stunticons.  The Autobots want to take control of the Key to Vector Sigma away from Megatron before he turns the planet of Earth into a new Cybertron.  Once the Autobots arrive, Megatron sends the Stunticons to fight them.  The Stunticons start their attack in vehicle mode.  Motormaster plows into the Autobot ranks and splits the force down the middle. Drag Strip chases Jazz and tries to cut him off.  He isn’t able to cut Jazz off, but he is successful in sideswiping him.  Jazz crashes into a metallic tree and his whole front end is crushed.  The Aerialbots save the Autobots The Decepticons are defeated.

Using camouflage paint, Optimus Prime, Jazz, Sideswipe, Mirage, and Windcharger disguise themselves as the Stunticons and infiltrate the Decepticon base.  Optimus Prime makes himself look like Motormaster.  Jazz resembles Dead End, Sideswipe as Breakdown, Mirage as Drag Strip and Windcharger as Wildrider.  While getting painted, Sideswipe says that he hopes the paint comes off after the mission.  Jazz reaffirms Sideswipe that no matter what he looks like, he’ll always be Sideswipe.  Wheeljack gives Optimus (as Motormaster) the ruby which the real Motormaster stole so Megatron will think that the disguised Autobots are really the Stunticons.  The fake Stunticons transform and head to Megatron’s base. Laserbeak approaches the fake Stunticons to lead them to the Decepticon base.  Jazz prepares to attack Laserbeak, but is reminded that they look like the Stunticons.  Jazz tests the disguises out by driving as reckless as a Stunticon.  When the fake Stunticons reach the apex of the new Decepticon base, they wait for orders.  Megatron fires his cannon into the air and the fake Stunticons are unsure what that means.  Optimus assumes that it is an invitation to join him, so the disguised Autobots start to drive to Megatron.  They continue to drive responsibly like Autobots, not recklessly as a Stunticon would.  Windcharger starts to feel uncomfortable pretending he is a Stunticon and Jazz tells him to be quiet so they maintain the illusion.  Starscream is the first to notice something is not right when he sees the fake Stunticons driving so well.  Megatron assumes they are driving safely as to not damage their precious cargo.  Once the disguised Autobots reach Megatron, he takes the ruby from Optimus.  Megatron completes his weapon and the fake Stunticons want to steal the ruby before Megatron can activate the cannon.  Before they are able to steal it, the real Menasor flies into the crater.  The Autobots continue the charade by using Windcharger’s magnetic abilities to link up as a phoney Menasor.  The two Menasors fight, but the real one uses his sword to disrupt the magnetic lock.  The Autobots tumble to the ground and their disguises disappear.  The Autobots transform and start to open fire at Menasor. Megatron prepares to use the cannon on the Autobots.  Menasor is barely effected by any of the Autobots’ attacks.  Menasor swipes his arm at the Autobots and they scatter.  Megatron tries to fire his cannon, and it hits a rock.  He tries to fire again but it explodes.  Ironhide had altered the ruby core while the Autobots had possession of it. .Menasor is about to attack the Autobots, but even more Autobots arrive to help.  With the cannon destroyed the Decepticons fly away since there is nothing holding them there.

Perceptor creates a substance called Corrostop.  The Autobots want to use it to protect all of Earth’s man made monuments.  The first monument that the Autobots work on is the Statue of Liberty.  Jazz helps spray the Corrostop on Lady Liberty.  The Autobots are infected with Cosmic Rust.  Megatron wants the Statue of Liberty destroyed so the Autobots can’t make more Corrostop and cure their Cosmic Rust.  Megatron gives Menasor control of the Lightning Bug.  Before Menasor can destroy the Statue, the Autobots reveal themselves. Jazz and a few other Autobots were hiding on the Statue.   Optimus Prime opens fire and the rest of the Autobots follow his lead.  Menasor prepares to fire the Lightning Bug, but the Aerialbots appear from above him.  The Aerialbots make Menasor drop the Lightning Bug.  The Aerialbots merge into Superion to finish off Menasor.  Superion destroys the Lightning Bug and the Decepticons retreat.  The Autobots are able to replicate the Corrostop and cure their cosmic rust.

An energy creature called Kremzeek attacks the Ark.    It passes Jazz, Hoist, Smokescreen, and Sparkplug.  Jazz opens fire on the energy creature, but misses his target.  Kremzeek is attracted to the energy from the weapon and runs towards Jazz.  It leaps inside of Jazz’s head and shorts him out.  Kremzeek emerges from Jazz’s chest and flies into Hoist.
Jazz and Cliffjumper are officiating a ceremony which dedicates a statue to Optimus Prime.  A journalist named Marty Minkler is covering the occasion.   Jazz cuts the ribbon during the ceremony and the statue is revealed to the world.  Starscream leads the Combaticons to the ceremony to attack.  Cliffjumper and Jazz have no clue who they are, but Jazz assumes that they are enemies because Starscream is leading them.  .  Using his helicopter rotors, Vortex creates a powerful wind storm.   Jazz and Cliffjumper withdraw their weapons and try to defend themselves and the crowd from the Combaticons.  Jazz is about to radio Autobot Headquarters for help, but he and Cliffjumper are caught up in Vortex’s windstorm.  The two Autobots fly into the air and Vortex captures them inside of his cargo bay.  Starscream and the Combaticons fly away with their two Autobot prisoners.  Jazz and Cliffjumper have some of their parts taken away from them and they are given to the Combaticons.  Jazz and Cliffjumper are saved and repaired.

When the Aerialbots are attacked by the Combaticons in Iran, Jazz travels with the Autobots to save them.  After the battle, the Autobots and Aerialbots travel together to a nearby Air Base for repairs.

Jazz was one of the few Autobots who survived the events of Transformers the Movie. In 2006, he participated in the galactic olympics. Despite being alive, he didn't show up in any additional episodes.

Marvel G1 Comic

Jazz was one of the original crew of The Ark, the Cybertronian ship which was tasked to destroy an Asteroid Field which was destined to destroy the planet Cybertron.  After being brought back to life in 1984, after a Four Million Year nap, Jazz is a valued Autobot warrior.  He loves human pop culture, listening to lots of current (for 1980’s) music.  After he is repaired by Ratchet, he refuses to transform back into Robot mode after a vehicle test because he was listening to a Madonna song.  At this time, Optimus Prime’s head is being held hostage by Shockwave, and Prowl is the acting leader of The Autobots.  They hear on the radio that GB Blackrock is creating an army of Anti-Transformer Weapons to protect his properties which have been ravaged by Decepticons.  Jazz is the first to say that the Autobots should introduce themselves to Blackrock so he learns not all robots are bad.  Prowl agrees and sends Wheeljack to join Jazz in meeting GB Blackrock (But Wheeljack is never shown).  Jazz abducts Blackrock and attempts to explain to him the difference between Autobots and Decepticons.  He explains that the Autobots just need fuel and want to help protect everyone from the Decepticons.  They make a deal that the Autobots will evict The Decepticons from Blackrock’s factories and oil platforms, and in return Blackrock will give them fuel.
Jazz’s first mission from Blackrock is to protect the unveiling of a new weapon which will destroy any robot.  Starscream and Frenzy attack, although it is unsure if they wanted the weapon for themselves or if they just wanted to destroy the weapon, but then Circuit Breaker attacks both Autobot and Decepticon.  Finally Wheeljack shows up and helps Jazz.  Circuit Breaker damages the Decepticons and they escape, Blackrock then tries to explain to her what Jazz explained to him, that there are two factions of Transformers, Autobots and Decepticons, and that the Autobots are their friends. At this point, GB Blackrock became a true ally to the Autobots.

Years later, during a battle with Starscream in New York City, Jazz witnesses many of his Autobot friends killed.  He shoots Starscream but it doesn’t hurt Starscream at all.  Starscream then kills Jazz.

Shortly after, Jazz is brought back to life by Ratchet on Cybertron.  Megatron wound up kidnapping Ratchet so he could restore Starscream as a Pretender.  Megatron made three other Pretender shells which he didn’t feel were up to his standards and Ratchet utilized them to heal and enhance Jazz, along with Grimlock and Bumblebee.  When Megatron finds out that Ratchet double crossed him, he wants to kill him, but Ratchet is saved by the new Autobot Pretenders.  While Grimlock and Bumblebee fight Megatron, Jazz fights the Decepticon Micromaster Sports Car Patrol.  Jazz is outnumbered and Ratchet explains to him that he can control his Pretender shell mentally, giving him the back up he needs.  Megatron then knocks out Jazz, throwing him outside of the compound.

Jazz, Bumblebee, and Grimlock stay on Cybertron to help the local Autobots fight the Decepticons.   Before they can use the Space Bridge to get back to Earth, they are attacked by Bludgeon and the Mayhem Assault Squad.  There is a Space Bridge accident caused by the battle which transports Jazz, along with the Mayhem Assault Squad, and several Autobots to the core of Cybertron. The Decepticons are transported to another part of the core than the Autobots. Upon reaching the core, the Autobots encounter the sleeping God of the Transformers, Primus.

The group of Transformers is met by a Priest of Primus called The Keeper, that tells them to leave or die.  Grimlock doesn’t believe that Primus even exists, and The Keeper starts to tell them the origin story of The Transformers (click HERE to read it).  Before Keeper can finish telling his story, he is killed by Bludgeon.  The Autobots start battle with the Decepticons, and Bludgeon singles out Jazz.  Bludgeon attacks Jazz with his sword, but Jazz dodges it by leaving his Pretender shell.  He attempts to fight Bludgeon hand to hand, and momentarily has the upper hand, but Bludgeon is a master of Cybertronian Martial Arts and defeats Jazz.  Bumblebee then engages Bludgeon and Jazz focuses on Stranglehold.  All of the Decepticons are defeated, but when one of them tries to shoot Grimlock in the back, the blast bounces off of Grimlock and hits Primus, awakening the sleeping god.  Primus then transports Jazz, Bumblebee, and Grimlock back to Earth.

Almost right after arriving back on Earth, Jazz is sent to search for The Matrix with Bumblebee and Grimlock.  They are assigned to search on the planet VsQ and the first place they search is an abandoned fortress.  They find that the Matrix did land on that planet and has created a monster which killed a lot of people.  Bumblebee starts to get second thoughts on recovering the Matrix, but Jazz won’t let him.  As Jazz, Bumblebee, and Grimlock get ready to resume their search, Thunderwing attacks.  Thunderwing grabs Bumblebee by the throat, holding him captive while Jazz tries to negotiate.  Grimlock saves Bumblebee by attacking Thunderwing.  Thunderwing falls to the ground, but quickly recovers.  He calls for his Mayhem Attack Squad to back him up.  Jazz uses his empty Pretender shell as reinforcements to battle the Decepticons.  Bumblebee and Grimlock are both defeated and Thunderwing focuses on Jazz.  Before he can finish Jazz off, a creature which was mutated by the Matrix attacks.  Thunderwing scares the creature off and he goes to chase it.   Bumblebee and Grimlock recover and the three Autobot Pretenders start their search again for the Matrix.  Jazz winds up falling through the damaged floor and it reveals the Matrix.  Thunderwing takes it for himself and escapes aboard Jazz’s shuttle.  Jazz and the two other Autobots are left on VsQs, damaged and running out of power.

In a possible future, where Galvatron has defeated the Autobots and taken over Earth, Jazz is part of the resistance with Spike and several other Autobot survivors.
In the aftermath of the battle with Unicron, Jazz was present when Optimus Prime finally died.

For years after Optimus Prime was brought back to life and defeated Bludgeon on Klo, Jazz remained a loyal Autobot soldier.

IDW Transformers

In Jazz’ first appearance (chronologically), he is shown helping defend Iacon against the Decepticons.

In the early days of Optimus Prime as leader of the Autobots, the Autobots get together to celebrate a victory against the Decepticons.

Millions of years later, Jazz shows up on Earth with the Autobots.  They are trying to defeat the Decepticons without letting the humans know that they are in danger.

Jazz is part of an Autobot team sent to a Decepticon base to engage them.  Bumblebee scouts ahead and tells the Autobots that the coast looks clear.  Jazz asks what the plan is.  Prowl tells all of the Autobots that they need to contain the Decepticons before the humans know that they are on Earth.

Jazz and the AUtobots observe Megatron battle Starscream.   The Autobots watch Megatron defeat Starscream.  None of the Autobots fight the rest of the day.  They transform back into vehicle mode and go back to the Ark-19.  They realize they need their “heavy hitters”.

Trailbreaker uses his force field to protect him from the radiation and brings Kup back to the Autobots.

Inside the Autobot base, the humans play a video game where they control a virtual Sunstreaker.   Jazz’s human holographic avatar enters the room and startles the human trio.  Hunter reminds Jazz that it is polite to knock before entering a room on Earth.  Jazz thanks Hunter for teaching him about Earth culture and customs.

Ironhide contacts the Ark-19 and tells the Autobots that he and Sunstreaker were attacked.  It looks like Sunstreaker was destroyed.  Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Wheeljack travel in vehicle mode to rendezvous with Ironhide.  Ironhide tells the traveling Autobots that Sunstreaker’s remains are in a police station in Springfield.  Optimus Prime sends Jazz and Wheeljack to recover the remains.  Jazz and Wheeljack make their way to the Springfield impound lot.  They split up, but remain in vehicle mode.  Wheeljack scans the lot and can’t find any trace of Sunstreaker.  Jazz asks if there is security and Wheeljack says there is minimal security and a few security cameras.  Wheeljack intends to disable them with an EM Pulse.  Jazz tells him to do it while he looks for a blind spot to enter the lot.  Jazz transforms and uses his blaster to cut a hole in the fence.  When the Autobots enter the lot, Wheeljack finds an unconscious person and a dead dog.  They continue searching and find Sunstreaker’s remains inside of a garage.  Machination agents are attempting to steal Sunstreaker’s remains.  The Machination agents fire disruptor pods at Wheeljack and Jazz.  The two Autobots are unable to move.  Wheeljack fights through the pain and shoots the pod off of Jazz.  Jazz returns the favor by ripping the pod off of Wheeljack.  The humans fire a mortar at Wheeljack, but Jazz rushes to shield his comrade.  As the Machination agents leave, the two Autobots realize they left a bomb behind.  Jazz and Wheeljack transform into vehicle mode and escape the garage before it explodes.  Optimus Prime stops the Machination agents and recovers Sunstreaker’s remains.  The Autobots learn that the remains they recovered weren’t actually Sunstreaker.  Ironhide tells Jimmy and Verity that there is a chance that Hunter and Sunstreaker are still alive.

Optimus Prime, Prowl, Wheeljack, and Jazz teleport to Bratvia.  When they arrive, they immediately transform into vehicle mode.  Prowl tells Jazz to use his traction studs so he can drive in the snow easier.

Before Megatron is able to fire his weapon at Optimus, he is attacked by Jazz, Wheeljack, and Prowl.  The three Autobots have deployed blasters from vehicle mode.  They destroy Koska’s jeep.  Megatron tells the facsimile Koska to kill himself.  One of the Autobots briefly disables Koska, but then Skywarp and Astrotrain join the fight.  Skywarp strafes the three Autobots with his blasters.  Prowl drives at full speed towards Astrotrain.  Before they can engage each other, Hardhead shoots Astrotrain out of the sky

Jazz and Wheeljack stay in vehicle mode to battle Skywarp.  They get irritated that Skywarp keeps teleporting around.

Megatron stands over Optimus Prime’s lifeless body an demands that the Autobots bow to him or die.  Hardhead, Jazz, and Wheeljack can’t believe that Optimus was defeated and hanging onto life by  thread.  Hardhead, Jazz, and Wheeljack open fire on the Decepticon leader with no reaction fro Megatron.  The Autobots continue attacking Megatron, but Megatron is just too powerful.  Optimus Prime recovers and sneaks behind Megatron.  He shoots Megatron in the head   After Megatron is defeated, the Decepticons retreat.

Jazz confines Verity and Jimmy to a single room in the Ark-19 for their safety.  Prowl commands the Autobots to prepare the Ark-19 to move to a new location.  Jazz is part of the preparations.  The Ark-19 starts rising out of Lake Michigan and begins traveling to it’s new location.  Ratbat spies on the Autobots from above.   Hardhead picks up that something is approaching them in the air.  The Autobots realize it is Sixshot.  The Ark-19 is too slow and bulky to evade the Decepticon.  Before the Autobots an open fire, Sixshot fires his weapons and the Ark-19 starts to crash onto a town.

The Ark-19 continues to fall to the ground.  The main engines are gone.  The power grid is off.  The Cloaking Device is malfunctioning.  The Autobots have fifty two seconds before the Ark-19 crashes into a town.  Optimus Prime tells Ratchet to use the maneuvering thrusters to move them a little bit.    The Autobots are able to prevent the Ark-19 from crashing into the town, but there is still a little destruction.  Also, the world now knows that they exist.   The ship crashes into water and self destructs.

The Autobots survive and save Ratchet from Sixshot.

Sixshot transforms back into robot mode to battle the Autobots.  Sixshot shoots Bumblebee and Jazz rushes to his side.  Hardhead transforms into APC mode and shoots Sixshot.  The other Autobots transform and Optimus Prime orders them to keep firing on Sixshot.  Sixshot transforms into Tank mode.  Only the humans notice that news helicopters are recording the battle for the world to see.  Optimus knows that Sixshot will destroy Earth if the Autobots don’t stop him.  Optimus tells all of the Autobots to open fire at full strength.  Meanwhile, a military drone is watching the battle.  Nothing the Autobots do can harm Sixshot. Sixshot grabs Jazz and rips his arm off.   Sixshot’s armor is slightly cracked.  While Optimus Prime fights Sixshot, Nightbeat is able to teleport all of the Autobots off of the battlefield.  Unfortunately the technology was compatible with Verity and Jimmy’s human bodies.

Ratchet tries to revive Verity and Jimmy and bring them back to life.  He blames himself for allowing them to teleport without testing the teleporter first.  The device was meant only for Transformers, not organics.  Ratchet asks Jazz how long the humans have been dead for.  Jazz says over five minutes.  Ratchet worries that even if he can save them, they will be brain dead.  Ratchet shocks both humans and they start to breathe again.  Jazz tries to commend Ratchet, but he is too damaged and collapses into Ratchet’s arms.

Tracks tells Cliffjumper and Bumblebee a story about Jazz to make them optimistic again.  A very long time ago, on Tracks’ first mission, the entire unit is wiped out.  Tracks is barely functioning but Jazz comes to save him.  Tracks’ optics are so damaged he can’t make out who is trying to save him.  An Autobot helicopter is about to help them get to safety, but it is shot down.  Tracks can’t transform to get to safety, so Jazz helps him move.  Before they can get to safety, they are stalked by the Predacons.  Jazz gets Tracks to a blown up building so they can regroup.  Jazz knows he doesn’t have the weaponry to take on an entire Decepticon unit.  He removes his back up Energon processor so he can modify it into a weapon.  he Predacons call out to Tracks and Jazz.   They promise to give the Autobots a painless death if they just surrender.  Tracks asks Jazz if he has a plan.  Jazz wants Tracks to pick a fight with the Predacons so he can attack them and surprise them.  Jazz is actually very intimidated by the Predacons.  Tracks fires at the ground beneath the Predacons. Jazz sneaks up from behind the Predacons and attacks.   Jazz disables Headstrong with his bare hands after taking Headstrong’s sword.  The Predacons plan to attack, but he transforms into vehicle mode and speeds past them.  Tracks jumps on Jazz’s roof so they can escape together.  Rampage and Tantrum transform into vehicle mode to fight, but they hit an explosive trap.  Jazz drives into wreckage so he and Tracks can hide.  Jazz goes out to battle Razorclaw and Divebomb.  Tracks musters up enough courage to transform and crash into Divebomb.  Jazz and Razorclaw face off with each other one on one.  Jazz strikes first and knocks Razorclaw back.  Razorclaw drops his sword.  Razorclaw recovers quickly and punches Jazz in the face.  Then Razorclaw knees Jazz in the stomach. Razorclaw goes to punch Jazz again, but Jazz blocks the attack.  Jazz does a high kick which hits Razorclaw in the face.  Razorclaw tries to punch, but Jazz grabs his fist.  Razorclaw starts to choke Jazz and then head butts him.  Razorclaw slashes Jazz with his claws.  Jazz is injured and only has a short time before he goes into stasis lock.  Before Razorclaw can finish off Jazz, an Autobot dropship arrives with Ironhide and Bluestreak.  On the Autobot drop ship, First Aid performs treatment on Tracks and Jazz.

The Autobots stay on Cybertron for about a year in Earth time.  In that time, the Decepticons attack New York City.  On Cybertron, Optimus Prime is still in stasis lock from his previous injuries.  Prowl and Jazz continue to check in on their leader.

Ironhide is furious and punches Prowl in the face.  Jazz breaks up the fight before it can continue.  Prowl asks Jazz why Ironhide listens to Jazz instead of him.  Jazz says that he uses the right tone.  Jazz goes to a balcony where Ironhide is standing.  Jazz comments that stargazing isn’t something Ironhide normally does.  Ironhide feels overwhelmed about the war.  It started out as a city, then a planet, now it is multiple planets.  Ironhide knows Jazz is hiding something from him.  Ironhide feels defeated because the Decepticons are still thriving.

Once Hot Rod finds out that the Autobots on Cybertron are allies, Kup reveals the Wreckers to them.  Kup wants to speak to Optimus Prime.  Jazz tells him that he is in charge at the moment.  Kup assumed that if Optimus was unable to lead, Prowl would be in charge.  Jazz explains that things have changed.  Kup criticizes Jazz that the Wreckers were able to get into the Autobot base without any sentries securing the location.  Jazz tells him that he has everything under control.  Springer tries to back up Kup, but Jazz flips him over his shoulder.  Blurr goes to help Springer, but Jazz punches him and takes his weapon.  Jazz points the blaster at Kup.  Jazz tells Kup that the reason he didn’t see sentries is because they were well hidden.  Mirage appears from being cloaked on guard duty.  Jazz tells Kup that he has to show him something.  Jazz shows Kup the severely damaged Optimus Prime.  Jazz tells him that Devestator hurt him.  Kup is saddened and comments that Optimus never knew how to not be a soldier.  Jazz tells Kup that there is a traitor in his group, but he doesn’t know who it is.  Kup commends Jazz on his leadership skills.  He asks Jazz if the other Autobots know that Optimus is dying, and Jazz says that they do.  Kup wants to name Jazz his second in command, even though Springer is already his second in command.  Prowl says that Jazz is a good choice for second in command.

Jazz tells Kup the story of how their ranks got so depleted.  The war became a stalemate.  Mirage delivered information to the Autobots that led them into an ambush.  Devestator stomped on several Autobots.  Skywarp ripped off Sideswipe’s arm.  Megatron shot Optimus Prime and ripped the Matrix out of him.  As the Autobots travel deeper into Cybertron, Kup suggests they stop and take a break.  Jazz asks Kup where Blurr and Drift are.  Kup says they will only be seen if there is a problem.

The Autobots prepare to make a final stand against the Insecticon swarm.  Wheeljack salvages a cannon from the Wreckers’ ship.  He explains to Roadbuster that he will only have a few shots before it burns out.  Roadbuster wants to name the cannon.  Jazz goes to Prowl and and finds out that Prowl has made over 6,000 simulations, and the Autobots only survive in 7 of them.  Jazz tells Prowl to keep that to himself.  As the Insecticon swarm approaches, Roadbuster fires the massive cannon at them.  The battle continues as the Autobots fight to survive. Optimus, Kup, Prowl, and Jazz stand together and shoot the Insecticons.  Blaster and Sideswipe are surrounded by Insecticons.  The Autobots are about to lose, but they are saved by Omega Supreme.  Omega Supreme stomps a lot of Insecticons and then fires his blaster at them.  Optimus asks how Omega Supreme knew they needed help.  Hot Rod tells Optimus Prime that he signaled Omega.  Omega Supreme transforms into rocket mode and the Autobots escape back to Earth.

After Optimus Prime defeats Megatron, the Decepticons escape with Megatron in their possession.

Under Ultra Magnus’ command, an Autobot strike force goes to Rodimus’ spacecraft.    When Ultra Magnus comes to the rocket site, Swindle betrays the partnership with Rodimus’ Autobots and reveals Menasor.

The Autobots are shipped to South Korea in a cargo ship.  They remain in vehicle mode so they won’t cause an international incident.  When the coast is clear, the Autobots emerge from their shipping containers.  Spike is unhappy with how Skywatch handled transporting the Autobots, and Optimus tells him that an army is only as good as their leader.  Spike calls Optimus Patton.  Optimus doesn’t know who that is and Cliffjumper thinks that Spike was referring to Patton Oswalt.  The Autobots go inside of a hangar and Spike tells them that no matter what, they have to stay in vehicle mode.  If it gets out that the US is harboring the Autobots, the President will be Impeached (he doesn’t know about the clandestine arrangement), Spike will be arrested, and the Autobots will be deactivated.  Spike brings Skywatch weapons for the Autobots.   The Autobots’ vehicle modes and they race with US Soldiers to battle the Combaticons.  Smokescreen opens fire on Vortex and kicks up a lot of dirt and smoke.  The Autobots have some cover now from the smoke.   Vortex continues his dogfight with Jetfire and slashes his wing.  Jetfire crashes into Broadside and the Combaticons escape.

The Autobots go to where the Combaticons are hiding.   Cosmos disables spy satellites above North Korea so the Autobots can fight in robot mode.   Prowl and Jazz attack Brawl who is in tank mode.  Before the battle can continue, the Predacons show up because the battle is getting too close to China, who they have pledged allegiance to.

The Autobots face off against the Predacons on the boarder of China and North Korea.  Jazz and Cliffjumper battle Headstrong.

A human with a Decepticon weapon tries to assassinate Bumblebee.  The Autobots take a Skywatch plane to see Bumblebee.  Jazz has a bad feeling about this.   Before Skywatch and the Autobots get to their destination, they pick up something approaching the plane at very high speeds.  Jazz tells all of the Skywatch agents to get inside of their mechs.  Something tears apart the plane.

The Autobots and Skywatch agents survive Megatron’s attack on their plane.  When it gets dark, they emerge from water.

Megatron contacts Optimus Prime and his group of Autobots (and Skywatch agents!).  Megatron tells Optimus that he has abducted the other Earthbound Autobots in a communication.  Megatron knows that Optimus and the Autobots are already on their way to save their friends.  Megatron wants to destroy Optimus Prime and Earth.  Skywatch tracks the transmission to New Mexico.  The Autobots and Skywatch agents prepare to attack the Decepticons.  The Autobots transform and drive to save their friends.  Smokescreen scouts ahead for Optimus Prime.  As the Autobots get close, Optimus Prime tells them they should travel the rest of the way on foot.  Megatron points to the nearby city and says that there are 46 humans in the city armed with Decepticon weaponry made from his old body.  Megatron then says that there are hundreds of weapons across Earth and Optimus will never be able to find all of them.    Megatron then surprises Optimus by telling him that the captured Autobots are in the city.  Megatron’s plan is to discredit the Autobots since the Autobots would have to kill humans to save their friends.  Optimus Prime wants Skywatch to find the captured Autobots.  Spike and another Skywatch agent ride in Jazz to save the Autobots since Jazz is the fastest.  Jazz and Skywatch find the captured Autobots in a park.  They are guarded by several humans who are armed with Decepticon weapons which look like Megatron’s gun mode.    Once Soundwave is disabled, the Decepticons lose control of the humans with the Decepticon weapons.  Bumblebee tries to reason with the man, but the man is so afraid of Transformers that he wants to destroy all of them.  As the man is about to shoot Bumblebee, Jazz races into action.  He flips over Spike and kills the man.

As Optimus is prepping the Autobots and Skywatch for battle, Jazz approaches him.  Jazz wants to go into battle.  Optimus tells him that Jazz is not on combat duty until they can sort out what happened earlier.  Jazz tells Optimus Prime that he needs all the soldiers available.  Optimus Prime tells Jazz that his choice is final.

After the interview, Prowl goes into his office and Spike wants to talk to Prowl.  Spike is unhappy that a newscaster is making negative comments about the Autobots and asks Prowl what he plans to do about it.  Prowl tells him that he isn’t going to get involved and the newscaster has freedom of speech.  Spike tells Prowl that he is going to be off base for 36 hours.  Prowl asks what he is doing, and Spike says he has to do damage control in regards to the recent battle with Megatron.  Bumblebee and Jazz watch the conversation from another room.  Jazz is unhappy with how the events are playing out and Bumblebee explains that sometimes they have to do things that they don’t like.  Jazz would rather be hunting Decepticons on Earth.  Bumblebee reminds Jazz that the Decepticons are still a priority, but most of the Decepticons on Earth are severely damaged and pose no threat.  Also, Bumblebee doesn’t want to antagonize the humans by putting Jazz in the field again since he recently killed a human.  Jazz tries to convince Bumblebee to let him go, but Bumblebee’s decision is final.  Jazz storms off.

Bumblebee gathers the few Earth bound Autobots to brief them on their next move.  Bumblebee tells the Autobots that they have a lead on where to find Simpson from Sandra.  Ultra Magnus wants to take Streetwise and Prowl to catch Simpson.  Ultra Magnus specifically tells Jazz that he must stay in the base, which angers Jazz.  Jazz wants to go on the mission, especially that he was trained specifically for tasks like this.  Ultra Magnus reminds Jazz that he killed a human.  Jazz storms out of the room.  Later, Ultra Magnus, Streetwise and Prowl capture Swindle and bring him to the Autobot base. Jazz is very happy that he finally gets to do something useful again.  The Autobots hang Swindle, who is missing an arm, from the ceiling to interrogate him.  Swindle wants his arm back and the Autobots tell him that if he answers their questions, they will consider it.  Swindle asks the Autobots if they are willing to negotiate.  Ultra Magnus tells him that this isn’t a negotiation.  If he doesn’t cooperate, the Autobots will make everything a lot worse for Swindle.  Bumblebee asks Swindle where he got the technology to create the Simpson facsimile.  Swindle tells the Autobots that he didn’t find it, he built it himself.  Swindle reveals to the Autobots that he didn’t use the Simpson facsimile to sell weapons, he was selling them to Skywatch for the last few years.  That is how they got their advanced technology that they used so easily and quickly.  Jazz and Pennington leave the Autobot base (which is actually Omega Supreme) without permission.  They go to the shut down Skywatch Base in New Mexico.  Jazz speaks to a general who wasn’t Spike’s biggest fan.  Jazz explains what Spike did with Swindle and that the Autobots consider Spike a fugitive.  Jazz broadcasts the conversation with the General to the public and wipes the Skywatch mainframes of any knowledge of Cybertronian technology.  Jazz apologizes to Pennington for lying to him about his intentions, and then he burns down the abandoned Skywatch base.

(TO BE CONTINUED)

Abilities

Jazz had two abilities which few if any other Autobots had. He was able to shoot a harpoon/grappling hook from his arm. He also had an impressive sound system in vehicle mode which could actually damage things.
