MMC Roller (Aka Cylindrus)Toy Review

Class- 3P, closest to a large Voyager

Two things to say about this. First, I have NO clue who Roller is in IDW. Just haven't gotten to those stories yet. But in my head cannon, he is a dude Optimus knew on Cybertron and fought the Decepticons with. Next, he is a heavy retool of the MMC Tarn figure who is one of my favorite figures of all time. Since I'm always looking to add to my Pre-Earth forces, and since I adore the mold, it only made sense that I picked it up

Bot Mode-

It's kind of crazy how Mastermind Creations is able to retool enough of a figure where the retool feels like a total new figure. Roller is one of those figures that I don't know much about, but he is so well made that it doesn't matter. Roller is a little larger than a Voyager, but shorter than a Leader size. He has pretty good articulation, the hands can open and close, his head can move up and down and side to side. his arms have "natural" articulation. Ankle tilts, standard movement in the legs. All in all, a very well articulated figure. Roller's main colors are dark green and gray. But he has some blue to him and his chest is orange. He looks really good and honestly, if you stand him next to Tarn, you won't think they share parts. Very successful execution.

I'm a big fan of MMC figures. They make them challenging enough where it is a lot of fun, but not so challenging that it is a pain in the ass. For fun, out of 10, I rate Roller's transformation a 7.75 and for complexity, I rate it a 6.25 out of 10

Vehicle Mode-

Roller's vehicle mode is a Cybertronian APC. And yes, he looks Cybertronian, not futuristic like some Siege figures. Roller has 6 wheels, a small blue canopy, but the rest of him is basically the same color as the robot., but there is a bit more silver on Roller's vehicle mode than there was in his robot mode. If you put him and Tarn next to each other, they look DRASTICALLY different. Not just a little but COMPLETELY.

This is another place that Roller really works. His accessories are amazing. His weapon is an Ion Cannon which looks a lot like Optimus Prime's gun. He also comes with a poncho, which again, I haven't gotten to the place in IDW where he is introduced, but I'm not 100% sure why a robot needs a poncho. Also, he comes with a juicebox. If you got him from a specific site, there was an additional accessory, but I didn't order from that site so I don't have it and I'm not going to give someone who I've never bought from a free plug.

3rd Party Add Ons-

This is the height of how great a 3P company can engineer their stuff and maximize their profits with retools. Also, cool weapon.

Honestly, I can't think of any legitimate gripes about this figure. He's a really fun figure

Phenominal figure. I rate it a 9 out of 10
