Commentary-

I always was a big fan of the terrorcons. One of my favorite Season 3 episodes was Grimlock's New Brain which introduced the Terrorcons (and my favorite team the Technobots). When POTP was in stores, there was some weird distribution problem where Wave 1 lasted on the shelves all year, but the other waves were a bit difficult to find. I broke down and used a good site to get the deluxe Terrorcons and I only paid like 2 or 3 dollars extra per figure.

Bot Mode-

Blot is a significant retool of Rippersnapper and it is insane how they retooled the figure to be so different and have it's own identity. It's also a lot of shared engineering, but not a lot of shared parts. Blot is a mainly dark blueish purple. His head is purple with a silver face and a red visor over his eyes. His arms are light purple and there are claws (kind of like Wolverine) on his hands. The hands are 5mm holes. His upper legs are the same light purple and his lower legs are the dark blueish purple. There is a bit of beast mode kibble on the legs, but the G1 version had the same, so I am okay with that. There is a small panel on his chest which opens up to expose a 5mm port which you can attach the prime armor onto. (The Prime armor is similar to the Combiner Wars Hand Foot Gun, but it has a hole in it which you can insert a Prime Master or Titan Master, the Armor can also form a hand or a foot in combined mode). There is some silver on his chest and red on his upper torso. Blot has basically the same amount of articulation as any deluxe Combiner Limb. His head can move left and right. His arms can move up and down and in and out. There is bicep swivel, significant elbow bend. The legs can do a full split and they can bend at the knees. Blot's robot mode is very well executed and doesn't feel like it is so gimmick laden where it affects the play value of the figure.

Transformation-

I got Blot after Rippersnapper, so because I already knew how to transform Rippersnapper, it wasn't hard to figure out how to transform Blot. For complexity, I rate Blot's transformation a 6 out of 10. For fun, 7.25 out of 10.

Beast Mode-

Blot's beast mode is kind of weird. I vaguely remember in G1 that he was meant to be a troll. Either way, I like whatever it is meant to be, a random monster. He is primarily the same blueish purple with a little light purple. For a beast mode, he has really good articulation, the arms basically have the same articulation as robot mode. He has a panel on his back which you can plug his pistol into. His hands are the same hands as robot mode, so he can hold things in his hands. I would say that as successful as his robot mode is, his beast mode is equally successful.

Accessories-

All POTP Deluxe figures come with Prime Armor, so Blot's Prime Armor is the same color scheme as he is. All Prime Armors have two thumbs, so I removed one for combined mode. You can open the prime armor and place a prime master (or titan master) into the armor. There is a tab which you can remove and it can act as a pistol, but I am not a fan of that. Blot also comes with a gun which resembles his G1 gun. I picked up a hammer for Blot on Shapeways.

3rd Party Add Ons-

There are no 3P add ons SPECIFICALLY for Blot. Only Abominus.

Pros-

Gotta say it, the Terrorcons are probably my second favorite combiner toy. Blot is a fun figure, he looks great, he has good accessories.

Cons-

Some of the joints are held together with friction instead of a pin or a peg. A few times, Blots lower arms have come off.

Grade-

If you're a fan of combiners, the Terrorcons and Blot are a must have. Just an all around fun toy. While it isn't my absolute favorite toy, POTP Blot is one of those figures which I really can't see how they can make better enough for me to want a new one. I rate Blot a 7.5 out of 10
