Commentary-

Every year, Walgreens does an exclusive figure. When it was POTP, their figure was Wreck Gar. Now, I really love CHUG Wreck Gar. I'm going to say it right away, I like him more than POTP Wreck Gar. But that doesn't mean that POTP Wreck Gar doesn't have a place in my collection. Out of the Walgreens exclusives, Wreck Gar has a bit of rarity to him, mainly because customizers and troop builders bought lots of him to fill out their Junkion ranks. To me, POTP Wreck Gar is not Wreck Gar, he is just another Junkion.

Bot Mode-

POTP Wreck Gar is a retool of Combiner Wars Deluxe Groove (and my extension Combiner Wars Afterburner). He feels too orderly (I'll get to that in a moment) to be Wreck Gar, but since I just use him as a random Junkion it is fine. From top to bottom, Wreck Gar's head is the only newly sculpted part of the figure. And I REALLY like the head sculpt. It has a lot of character to it. It is orange with a silver face and silver pistons coming out of the head. There is a red head light in the middle of his forehead. The head is on a ball joint so it can turn properly and there is a little movement of up and down. He has a backpack of the front end of the motorcycle, which is fine and it doesn't bother me. Now here's where I don't like this figure as Wreck Gar because it is a simple retool (new head). To me, a Junkion (Wreck Gar or any other Junkion in my collection) needs to look somewhat Post Apocalyptic, somewhat asymetrical, and it should have a lot of disorder. Remember, these guys live in a planet of junk. POTP Wreck Gar looks like he came right off the assembly line. This is just my thoughts, not an actual fault of the figure. His arms are on ball joints so they can move up and down and in and out. There is good elbow bend. His hands are 5mm holes. The center of his chest is a combiner peg, but like every other non cannonical combiner part, I have never combined him. It actually would've been pretty cool if Walgreens did 4 different head sculpts and then another exclusive voyager so we could've had a Junkion combiner, but since that never happened in any media aside for my imagination, I am fine without it. The chest combiner peg is not intrusive at all, like most other CW/POTP combiner limbs. His legs are on a ball joint so they can move up and down and in and out as well as good knee bend. For what he's meant to be, a cheap exclusive, he's fine.

Transformation-

Wreck Gar's transformation is pretty straight forward. It wasn't my first time with the mold so I knew how to transform it. But when I first transformed the mold (in my case UW Afterburner) I didn't need the instructions or a video. For complexity, I rate Wreck Gar's transformation a 5.25 out of 10. For fun, a 6.75 out of 10.

Vehicle Mode-

Wreck Gar's vehicle mode is the weaker mode, but not from an engineering POV. As Groove and Afterburner, the mold is great. But as Wreck Gar, he has the same problem as the robot mode, he looks too "clean". And I don't mean from the POV of "Siege Dirt". He is a motorcycle that is orange, with some red and brown. It just doesn't feel like the junkions that we saw in TF The Movie. In TF the movie, all of the Junkions were dirtbikes that had junk all over them. Now I get that for a walgreens exclusive, we most likely aren't going to get a bunch of new tooling (Ratchet was the exception to that rule), but they could've made a less consistant paint scheme. The motorcycle pegs together well and there is a kick stand so you can display the figure in vehicle mode without it falling down. Again, I like it, but not as Wreck Gar.

Accessories-

POTP Wreck Gar comes with Prime Armor which you can't peg into the chest (again, I don't think there was budget for new tooling for this figure) as well as CHUG Wreck Gar's melee weapon.

3rd Party Add Ons-

N/A. I'm actually pretty shocked that no one made a bunch of different junkion heads for Wreck Gar

Pros-

For an exclusive with the budget only for a new head, he's good. He isn't held back by the combiner gimmick. Good articulation.

Cons-

Too clean for a Junkion.

Grade-

POTP Wreck Gar is a fun figure, but I got him on mark down. Even at full price, he is worth the purchase. He isn't my end all be all Wreck Gar (that's CHUG Wreck Gar to me at least for now), but as a filler of Junkion ranks, I like him. No major faults in engineering aside I would've liked to have seen just a bit of sloppy paint or scratches or patchwork to add to the junk feeling I rate Power of the Primes Beachcomber a 6.75 out of 10.
