RiD2.0 OS KO of Megatronus Toy Review

The second Robots in disguise series was a really mixed bag for me. Both in story elements and figures. Some figures I really loved like Bumblebee and Strongarm. Others, like Sideswipe were a bit lackluster. I really liked the design of the Megatronus figure, but it was way too small. Luckily, someone made an oversized KO. If you aren't sure who Megatronus is, he isn't Megatron, he is one of the original 13 Primes.

Bot Mode-

The "real" figure of Megatronus was a warrior class (RID's version of a Deluxe). Way too small for the character. This guy is meant to be the guy who helped defeat Unicron, not the guy who made pies for the other 13 Primes. So this figure is about a voyager sized figure and it is much more appropriate. Considering that it is a KO figure, it really has pretty equal quality of plastic to a Hasbro figure. He is primarily gray and black with some purple details. His head is really interesting looking with dark red eyes. Since it is a KO, there are no Autobot or Decepticon Logos on the figure. Since it based on a RiD2.0 Warrior figure, the articulation isn't as good as you'd want it to be for either a deluxe or voyager figure, but it is good enough where it is still a fun figure. His arms can move up and down and elbow bend, but just something about the arms doesn't 100% work for me, it just feels like it should have a few more joints. There is Thigh Swivel and his legs can do spread eagle and move up and down. Also, because he is based on RiD2.0, he feels a bit hollow. So he does have a few faults, but it's still a good figure in most regards.

Megatronus' transformation is pretty simple, but it does the job. Again, RiD2.0 was meant to be the kid line so it has pretty simple transformations but it is still fun. For complexity, I rate it a 5 out of 10. For fun, I rate it a 7.25 out of 10. I was able to do it without the instructions or a video. In terms of comparing the transformation to other lines, I would say an easy Combiner Wars figure

Vehicle Mode-

In vehicle mode, Megatronus is a Cybertronian Tank. It keeps the same main colors and he looks pretty imposing and intimidating. His sword can clip onto the cannon. I really like this vehicle mode and to me, it is the stronger of the two modes. It tabs together well.

Megatronus comes with a sword. I like it

3rd Party Add Ons-

If you want a Megatronus figure, this is the figure to get. I think the mainline Megatronus was 16.00 in stores when it came out, and I believe I spent 35 on the OS KO. He has a cool sword and a really nice vehicle mode.

Articulation is a bit lacking and he has a kind of hollow feel.

Even though he has some faults, Megatronus is a figure I do enjoy. I'd rather have a Megatronus that was based on his POTP Cartoon look, but for what it is, I like the figure. This isn't the end all be all of Megatronuses for me, but I feel this is the best option for the character at this point. I rate the figure a 6.25 out of 10

Retools and Repaints-

This is kind of a weird section for me. The Oversized figure has no retools or repaints, but I feel it is appropriate to at least mention the two retools of the mainline figure.
